Maps and Examples

My first offering to you my dear blog readers is the fruits that came from closely following the easy to follow and very well constructed tutorial as featured on the home page. How to Stack Three Pistons in Minecraft and Become King of the World

Dry dock/dam.  Area free of water, note the lever circled, near the bottom of the image.

Upon activating the lever the sandbanks on either side drop down and water rushes in to fill the gap. Awesome well done.

The ultimate downside to the structure is the great difficulty in getting a boat through the water because the tide is so strong.  Getting a boat through wasn't part of the design parameter, so that's okay.  It was merely to learn how to drop three tiles up and down repeatedly.  I worked on the closest sandbank, which is a simple two tile high system.  This taught me how to secure the redstone mechanism under the structure and other small issues I had.  The pinnacle of achievement is the three block movement at the top of the shot.

The Mechanism derived from the tutorial linked is displayed here, adapted to power three blocks wide.

Can it be made smaller - Yes.  I theorise the ABBA circuit can be made vertically quite easily and the Falling Edge Trigger circuit to be neatly contained underneath a block or two from the pistons.
